Standard #10 Collaboration

Standard #10 Collaboration

The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession.

This assignment demonstrates collaboration by emphasizing the importance of working together with various support staff employees to support student learning and development. Through exploring the IEP process, I gained a deeper understanding of how collaboration among parents, general and special education teachers, school psychologists, and other professionals is essential in creating effective educational plans for students with disabilities. This artifact highlights my ability to recognize the value of shared responsibility and teamwork in ensuring that every student has access to the support they need to succeed academically and functionally.

This assignment and standard are important to me as a future teacher because they reinforce the idea that teaching is not a solo act. Supporting student growth, especially for those with unique learning needs, requires open communication, trust, and strong relationships with families, and colleagues. By embracing collaboration, I can better advocate for students, make informed decisions, and contribute to a school culture that prioritizes equity, inclusion, and shared professional growth.
